Picking a good reference picture can seem like a daunting task, but it’s easier than you may think. If you follow a few “best practices” then you should be fine.

  • Pick a clear picture. If the picture is blurry then details will be lost.

  • Make sure the area you want to focus on takes up most of the picture.

  • Adjustments and additions can be made, but make sure both pictures are clear and of similar size.

  • It doesn’t have to be traditional, you just have to like it. As long as what you want to be in the picture is clear and visible, then it’ll turn out.

What do I do if the picture is sentimental and not great quality?

  • Use it anyway. In the end the fairy godparents in the back will make magic with whatever you have. If all you have is a blurry 1940s picture of your Nana that your mother would love to have, the upmost care and dedication will be taken to make it work. Please be aware that all details will be filled in at the “imagination station.”
